Tools overview
The BAT knowledge center has developed some decision support tools that help the government, companies and environmental consulting firms to look for possible combinations of treatment or processing techniques to solve a particular waste problem.
However, the result is not automatically also a Best Available Technique (BAT). To this end, a global environmental and economic assessment and a more specific technical analysis must be carried out.
BOSS
Boss is a decision-supporting system that can help in the initial screening of possible techniques for the remediation of soil pollution. Boss has been created by the BAT centre, in conjunction with the environmental advice bureau, TAUW.
WASS (water treatment selection system)
WASS is a decision-support tool that helps the government, companies and environmental consulting firms in their search for possible combinations of treatment techniques to solve a particular wastewater problem. WASS was developed by the BAT knowledge centre.
LUSS
LUSS is a decision guidance system that can help in the initial screening of possible techniques for the treatment of industrial waste gas streams. The decision guidance system itself can only be consulted in Dutch. The technical descriptions of the techniques are available in English as well.
