Updated study on PFAS removal from construction dewatering water now available
An updated version of the summary document on PFAS removal from construction dewatering water is now available on EMIS.
The new version further extends the analysis. In particular, the classification of discharges of construction dewatering water under the current regulatory framework is now more explicitly taken into account when interpreting the results, including in the assessment of PFAS treatment costs.
The document also includes a new assessment of the climate impact of PFAS removal from construction dewatering water, expressed both per volume of water treated and per amount of PFAS removed. In addition, a first exploration of the costs and benefits of PFAS removal has been added, identifying the elements required for a cost-benefit analysis, the information that is already available, and the main remaining knowledge gaps.
Based on these additional analyses, the conclusions were updated and additional knowledge gaps were identified.
The updated version is available on the EMIS study page PFAS removal from construction dewatering water.
