Back to article overview

This study provides a well-founded and practice-oriented overview of available techniques for reducing nitrogen oxides (NOₓ) in industrial combustion installations in Flanders, with attention to performance, boundary conditions, and operational aspects such as ammonia slip. The applicability of these techniques is evaluated based on parameters such as installation capacity, fuel type, and operational regime, and complemented by an economic assessment of investment and operational costs as well as unit abatement costs using representative scenarios. The study thus compiles the key technical and economic insights needed to support the implementation of DeNOₓ techniques in the context of permitting and policy, particularly under increasing pressure from nitrogen policy and the Programmatic Approach to Nitrogen (PAS).
