The kick-off meeting of the BREF LAN (Landfills) took place from 6 to 9 October 2025 in Seville.
During this meeting, the scope, key environmental issues, applied processes and techniques, and the information and data collection were discussed. In preparation of the meeting, the members of the TWG had submitted proposals and initial positions on these topics. The meeting report is available on the EU-BRITE website.
In the meantime, the Member States have selected well-performing plants that will contribute, in a next phase, to the information and data collection through questionnaires (currently planned to start at the end of 2026). A workshop on the monitoring of diffuse methane emissions will also be organised at the end of June 2026.
