Recently, the drawing up of the BREF for mining (extraction) of metal ores ('BREF MIN') has started. This new BREF concerns the activity specified in point 3.6 of Annex I to the new IED, namely: '3.6. Extraction including on-site treatment operations, such as comminution, size control, beneficiation and upgrading, of the following ores on an industrial scale: bauxite, chromium, cobalt, copper, gold, iron, lead, lithium, manganese, nickel, palladium, platinum, tin, tungsten and zinc.'
De frontloading phase has finished on 29 July 2024. Based on the information and views submitted by the Technical Working Group, the scope and content for drawing up the BREF will be decided at the Kick-off Meeting (2-5 December 2024).
